Pilot Training FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:
Flight Simulator Training

Do your simulators have motion?

Yes, all the Full Motion flight simulators have powered motion systems. You will feel everything from the acceleration to turbulence in one of the £10-million full motion flight simulators. We also have fixed based simulators which are also professional training devices but without motion. please check your purchase before checking out.

How closely does the simulator resemble the real thing?

Our simulators are all certified by the CAA to FNPT2, Level C and Level D (the highest there is) depending on which voucher you purchase. The simulators are used for professional pilot training and Level D simulators are Zero Flight Hours approved. This means that a pilot can do all his training in the simulator including his flight exam and then goes to fly the aircraft with passengers! They are in fact so real that pilots regularly come to us and use our simulators for their own training requirements before an interview or to keep the skills sharp. We can replicate any failure, weather conditions, runway conditions and turbulence.

Do I always need to book ahead?

We strongly recommend to do so and give us at least two weeks notice. The Training Centres get very busy with professional pilot training, so to avoid disappointment please book ahead to get a date, time, location and aircraft type that fits your requirements. We will do our best to accommodate last minute bookings as well.

Are there any medical conditions that I should inform you about?

Yes,If you are not in good health, have back or neck problems, motion sickness or other conditions that could be aggravated by the motion of the simulator. We recommend that expectant mothers, anyone suffering from epilepsy, or people with recent head/ spinal injuries should not participate. This includes any health issues for passengers accompanying you on the day. Please contact us if you have any questions.

What aircraft types can I fly?

Please click here visit our Aircraft page for a full list of aircraft types we fly and information about each type. We have a large selection for you to choose from at various locations.

Which locations do you offer?

Please click here to visit our locations and simulators page for a full list and detailed directions to all our locations.

What is the full duration of an Experience?

Our shortest experience is a 60 minute session in the simulator with a 30 or 60 minute brief before and after (depending on the package you purchase). You may book your session for any amount of full hour sessions. All of them will come with brief and debrief which does not affect the time you have in the simulator. Please email us for more information for block bookings. If you are doing an LPC with us, the briefing before hand is expected to be 90 minutes with a 30 minute debriefing at the end, included in our price.

How extensive is the briefing?

We try to keep the briefing to your requirements which would be discussed at the time of booking. We will tailor fit it to your needs and experience. Typically you can expect the briefing and security checks to take 45 minutes to go through the main principles and basics in a briefing room. We will use a cockpit replica of the aircraft type you have booked before your experience so we do not spend valuable time talking and not flying in the simulator.

Can I bring guests?

Yes, most simulators cater for up to 3 guests plus the person flying. Just remind your guests to bring ID even if they are not flying themselves.

What should I bring with me on the day?

Because our flight simulators are so realistic, we are required by law to confirm the identity, and keep records of everyone that comes onto the training centres. Please bring valid photo ID, either your passport or UK driving license, when you come for your flight experience. We suggest to read through our Preflight Checklist before starting your journey.
